Pomerene Hospital Restricts Visitation Amid Increase in Flu Activity

Pomerene Hospital Restricts Visitation Amid Increase in Flu Activity

As part of Pomerene’s commitment to the safety and health of our patients, staff, and visitors, the hospital has chosen to restrict visitation in response to widespread flu activity. Effective immediately, those under the age of 14 will not be permitted to visit.

The hospital is following the recommendations of Dr. McFadden, Health Commissioner, in limiting and restricting visitation to the hospital until further notice.

Pomerene will also be displaying posters at all entries notifying visitors of the restrictions and asking those with flu-like symptoms not to visit. These symptoms include, but are not limited to:

• Fever or feeling feverish/chills
• Cough
• Sore throat
• Runny or stuffy nose
• Muscle or body aches
• Headaches
• Fatigue (tiredness)

To minimize the risk of spreading infection, clean your hands often with sanitizer or soap/water, do not cough or sneeze into your hands, use a tissue or cough/sneeze into your upper shirt sleeve, and do not put your fingers near your eyes, nose or mouth. Please view our Influenza Health Alert for more information.
