Pomerene Hospital Excited to Transition Kinetics to a Medical Fitness Center

Pomerene Hospital and Pomerene Kinetics are excited to announce the transition of Kinetics to a Medical Fitness center.

“We are very excited about this new opportunity for Kinetics,” stated Teresa Balder, Director of Outpatient Services at Pomerene Hospital. “This new model allows us to focus on the overall health and wellness of our community by focusing on disease prevention, treatment, education, fitness and nutrition.”

“More and more people are finding that one of the best ways to stay healthy as you age is by simply taking care of yourself. Pomerene and Kinetics see this as an amazing opportunity to provide our community with a place to go not only for exercise, but also for health education and nutrition. We know how prominent diseases like heart disease and diabetes are in this community, which is why we are offering something more than just a fitness center. At the end of the day, it’s about treating the overall health and wellness of an individual to the best of our ability…and that’s why we’re doing this.”

A Medical Fitness center is a medically supervised health and wellness program that focuses on prevention and treatment of lifestyle related disease, illness, and injury, through participation in medically supervised physical activity, nutrition and health education.

The Pomerene Medical Fitness model has three important components: medical supervision, qualified staff, and clinical integration. All aspects of the Medical Fitness center will be overseen by a Medical Director. John Vaccariello, MD has accepted the position as Medical Director, and will assist with providing medical supervision related to fitness programming, exercise assessment and prescription, evaluating and assessing health and wellness service needs, and staffing.

Pomerene has also decided to lower membership fees, making the monthly cost more affordable to the community.
